Mined in the alluvial gravels of the Ratnapura district, hand-sorted by third-generation cutters our founder has worked with since 2019. Inspected and photographed before being carried by hand to Markham, Ontario.

Spinel is an 8 on the Mohs scale — hard, but not invincible. Store loose stones individually in soft pouches; do not let them rattle against harder gems (sapphire, diamond) in the same box.

Clean with warm water, a drop of mild soap, and a soft brush. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners and steam — both are usually safe for unheated spinel, but we recommend caution with any stone that has not been pre-tested.
